The Origin of Coffee with Cody

Coffee with Cody began in a youth ministry in Nebraska in 2015, although it’s seen many different faces and ideas since then. It began with the notion of community. As a young youth pastor, I wanted to connect with the students in my youth ministry and get to know them. So I set out a little piece of paper with a coffee stain on it for kids to sign up and have meetings at the local coffee shop (technically…it was a local bowling alley that served coffee!). It didn’t matter what you got to drink, Cody would always be getting coffee so it would always be Coffee with Cody. We’d talk about life, video games, youth group, our faith and how we could grow in our faith.

Taking that last topic, faith and how we grow in our faith, in 2020 the Coffee with Cody YouTube channel was born. The heart behind the channel was to lead people into a transformational relationship with God through worship and devotionals. While I’m not nearly as active on the channel as I was in 2020, this is still the heartbeat behind Coffee with Cody!

In 2022 my passion for coffee extended to roasting my own beans, and the roasting company began, bringing the coffee back to Coffee with Cody. So, come say hi. Let’s talk about life, Jesus, and coffee. From my kitchen to yours.
